You could look into this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PearPC
Or This:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basilisk_II

I have used Basillisk to run 7.5.5 on a i686 linux computer. PearPC looks interesting, but I have never got it working. Most major distros should have these available in their software selection.

Just formatted the hdd fully. Took 45minutes... Nothing is on it.

Now, i have install and restore cds for os8.5, 9.0.3, and 10.0.4. How do i get the cds to boot from a non mac keyboard. My old imac i used to hold down "c" but that isnt working on the t30 ...

I dont want any windows or anything, just straight mac...

Press F12 on boot to choose your media drive as a temporary boot device.

Chances of any OSX running smoothly on a T30 are extremely close to zero. Hardware is way too different from any Mac of a similar era.

Good luck.

Osx is completely dif than mac os 8.5... I used 8.5 back in the 90's on an original imac, lol hdd was only 4gigs with a 233 MHz PowerPC 750, 32 MB of RAM, a 4 GB hard drive, a 24x CD-ROM, ethernet, thats it...

God i wish i could find my old imac usb keyboard lol

My apologies for not being up-to-date on OS* terminology.

My point still stands though: none of these will run on a T30 in a remotely borderline acceptable manner.

I'm sure it has been. There's a lot of idle hands all around the web.

And I still state that it will *never* run properly on a T30.

You'll have to go with an older version that doesn't require PAE support...

Should that fail try Mint...or for that fact, Debian.

Good luck.

You better try Lubuntu, it works better in old generation Thinkpads.

Lubuntu is less ressource hungry. I'm using it in my A31 and one of my X31's without any issues. Both are from a similar age as your T30 (the X31 being a little bit more modern).

You would have to use the first OSX that ran on Intel x86 for starters (that didn't happen untill 10.4 or 10.5). Anything before that will only run on a PPC cpu which a T30 does not have. You can run an emulator and then install an older version of mac OS on that , or just get an old mac to mess with which is cheaper and more fun to do.

Is the Macbuntu project still active? I thought it kind of stalled a couple of years ago.

Latest Macbuntu is based on 12. something. I prefer the earlier with the full sized docky, but each to their own.
