Which Intel LAN driver?

#1 Post by albo » Fri Feb 15, 2013 12:44 pm

Hi Folks,

I've been getting BSOD's when trying to sleep my T410 (ugh), and the minidump seems to be pointing to the wifi driver. I have an intel centrino ultimate-n 6300 AGN in my machine, and it currently has driver version 15.2.0.19 installed. The intel lan drivers on lenovo's website have always confused the sh*t out of me, as there are a bunch of combinations of "a", "b", "g" and "n" drivers in different packages. I'm never sure which to install.

There's this one (version 14.03.0000): http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc ... w217ww.exe
And this one (version 15.02.0000.1258, which i *think* i have installed): http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc ... w213ww.exe
And finally this one (version 13.04.0000): http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc ... ws21ww.exe

I have no idea why all three show up as current. Is version 15 the one I should be installing? Or, if I'm getting BSOD's, perhaps I should try version 14? Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

Read the readmes on the site. They should explain which adapters each driver is for.

"should" being the operative word. The readme's for all three drivers specify "Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300".

I would first make sure I had the latest power manager. Then, if that didn't correct things, I would go to the intel site. Under support, I would let it run the thing that can scan for the latest intel drivers. If that didn't work, I would try version 14.

thanks rich. so - you would suggest installing drivers direct from intel? i'm always jumpy about doing that, as i'm never sure how it will interact with all the built-in lenovo tools.

i downgraded to version 14, and haven't had any hang-while-sleeping crashes since.
