Thought question

#1 Post by jronald » Sun Feb 17, 2013 5:48 pm

Could you take enough weight out of the front of a 747, so that "regular" but very strong ground wind, could lift the front of the plane off the ground? The entire plane pivoting on the rear landing gear?
I know that the 747 will rotate around 180 mph @ 800,000 lbs. So if you were to strip out everything in front of the COG would say a 75mph or 95mph cause it's nose to lift?

May not take as much as I thought. Stolen from wiki, this was a fully loaded aircraft with gear damage:
During this time, the aircraft settled aft, resting on its tail in a nose-up attitude. The four forward slides were unsafe for use due to the greater elevation.....
