T530 Power jack size

#1 Post by Lockheed » Wed Feb 20, 2013 8:54 am

Is power jack size/shape in T530 the same as in T61/R61? Ie.: is it possible to use their PSUs interchangeably?

The answer is yes, except with Lenovo's recent trends of making things that are physically compatible become incompatible, you never know. Some flavors of the T530 might decide that they must use the 135/170W adapters, and throw a fit if you try the 90W adapter of the T/R61. Who knows.

ThinkPad T520 and T530 with quad core i7 and nvidia uses 135 watts adapter, non of them uses 170 watts adapter. The 135 watts adapter use the same barrel connector shape as the 90 watts and 65 watts adapter.

I've used 90w adapter on quad core T530 without problems, charges fine.

Didn't it downclock? I read T530s limit their performance if insufficient power PSU is connected.
