T61 will not run on battery power...

I have a T61 15.4" Widescreen with Nvidia Graphics.

Hooked up to the AC Adapter, nothing seems amiss. The machine powers on normally and the battery charges. The battery works fine in my other T61 widescreen.

If I unplug the adapter, the machine goes dead. It absolutely will not start, no lights, no nothing. If I plug the adapter back in, still nothing.

I have to take out the battery, disconnect the adapter, and do the power button 'thingy', reconnect the adapter and it starts fine.

Any ideas or fixes? I'm not afraid of a soldering iron.
