Audio and Video skipping on T420
Audio and Video skipping on T420
Hello people! I´ve been experiencing some audio and video issues with my t420... The thing is it sometimes skips the audio when playing (even when playing videos) and accessing data on the hd or online (whenever there is medium to heavy data traffic). Is there someone over here experiencing such problems? I happen to have a T61 and it never gave me such problems... But then again thinkpads doesn´t seem to be the same anymore... (I might be reaching here but, it´s about the same problem I had with a Power Mac 8500 with a sonnet G3 processor upgrade and a ATA 100 pata hd controller card - for those who play on the both sides of the fence hehe - mac/pc)
Is there a way to fix it (its extremely annoying)?
Thanks

You should not be having any issues playing media content on that machine. It's a driver and/or software issue. If streaming it could be your wireless that is not providing enough bandwidth.

Re: Audio and Video skipping on T420
Hi, for antivirus I´m using the lightest... microsoft security essencials. As for the bandwidth, it occurs even when using my own files (in the HDD)... Now it could be the drivers, but I´m using lenovo´s drivers... For the main disk I´m using a 128GB M4 Crucial SSD secondary one is the original Hitashi 7200 rpm 500GB. All runing windows 7 Pro. What am I missing?
Thanks

Re: Audio and Video skipping on T420
Since you got a SSD program load should be pretty snappy. Assuming everything is installed properly it should fly. Download CPUZ and see that the CPU is throttling properly. Also wouldn't hurt to benchmark the SSD using ATTO. On my T420 with a Sandforce controlled SSD r/w speed exceeds 500+ MB/s which is what is expected from a SATA III drive. The other thing to check is the codec that you are using for playback. I like Klite Codec myself. It's free and runs 1080p video without any issues.
