a31 xp installation on x41?

#1 Post by ganon11000 » Sat Mar 09, 2013 6:42 pm

I have no DVD drive for my x41, need windows xp (not Linux) and have a xp disk (OEM - works with IBM / lenovo keys :) )

Could I install the disk to my 8GB 200X lexar CF on the A31 and use it in the X41? Or is there driver / licence issues?

If your X41 has the correct COA, no problem using that CD.

But, if you talking about installing on the A31, then moving the drive to the X41, I don't think that's going to work. There will certainly be driver issues, and you'll most likely get a Windows Protection blue screen when trying to boot.

You just need to find a USB DVD drive, the cost is much less than the aggravation of trying to use creative installation methods.

You can move XP drives from machine to machine, which in effect is the same as a motherboard swap.

The thread is famous:

You can also make a bootable XP USB flash drive to do the install on the hard disk in the X41.

The last method is
