Minecraft on a T43p ???
Hello,
Do any of you folks know if Minecraft will successfully run on a T43p?
I currently have Win8 installed on my daughters machine but I understand that Win7 with the correct drivers may be the way to go. I just want to confirm this before I rip out Win8 and load Win7.
Thanks for any and all help.

Never mind. It runs real nice on the T43p. It doesn't however run at all on my x61s. Apparently the older older machine has better graphics than the dual core x61s.
Thanks

Well, yeah, V3200 will beat the living daylight out of X3100 performance-wise, but the latter has probably about five times the battery life.Fixed_Rider wrote:Never mind. What resolution are you playing it in on T43p?

1600x1200. It stutters a bit, but it's not too bad.
The x61s won't even play. I keep getting an error about how it cant find opengl mode for the video card.

Intel GPUs seem to have a pretty bad reputation for OpenGL support (moreso than their DirectX).

Re: Minecraft on a T43p ???
do you have the most recent driver for the x3100, or just the default one windows or system update installs? On my T61 it ran, and while it did lag occasionally, it wasn't unplayable by any means - actually it ran better than my gaming desktop, but I think there was a conflict with something on that system.

CH, yes I do have the latest driver.....but it is for Win7 and I am running Win8/Ubuntu 12.04.
I'll give it a try on the Ubuntu side apparently the drivers are better for the x3100 per a post I saw on the interwebs.
I'll keep you folks posted.
Thanks for all of the feedback

Re: Minecraft on a T43p ???
I run a special Minecraft client that my British friend and I are developing(www.asterionmc.com), and it has OptiFine pre-installed. I highly recommend if you're running Minecraft, especially on older hardware, that you install OptiFine. Normally you'd have to open .jar files and install it yourself(a bit of a pain) but our client has it included.
Minecraft runs fine on my friend's 15" T43p that I just sold him. He does need to set Graphics to "Fast" instead of "Fancy", but he can leave Smooth Lighting on and particle effects. This is on Windows 7 SP1 with the driver that Windows Update installs.
Also noteworthy is my SXGA+ X60 Tablet, which runs Windows 7, and has Intel GMA 950, runs Minecraft really well. Smooth lighting sometimes needs to be turned off though.

Trying my hardest to collect Thinkpads, but college and being broke kinda gets in the way. However...
