Kingston ultimate 16GB 266X crashing windows installation
My new cf card won't let me install windows; it crashes at starting windows on xp and black screen with pointer on windows 7, could you advise me what to do?
I've checked its genuine with Kingston's checker
Also I've formatted it loads of times in windows 7 (on my gaming PC) and done a surface test.
CDM was about 20mb/s write - 0.9mb/s write and 60mb/s read -10mb/s read

Some cards don't play well in all PCs, so I'd try a different card.
Re: Kingston ultimate 16GB 266X crashing windows installation
I use that same card. It started life in my t42 but it lives in my t23 now. I could have used a slower card though, t23 can not push it enough. I would suspect the pata/sd adaptor is at fault. SD card should show up as normal ide device. I am running linux on it though, if that makes the difference. I doubt it.
Just checked, it shows up in my bios- "ULTIMATE CF CARD-(PM)." Do you see yours in the bios?

Its in bios, upon installing Linux or booting windows setup it crashes, I've given up on it for now and are going to do a msata mod and use a msata drive

Re: Kingston ultimate 16GB 266X crashing windows installation
Update. I just got my 1.8" ide to CF adaptor. Tried this same card in my x41t. Same result. It was recognized in bios but crashed during format drive. I suspect it is because of the 2010 error. I did have to esc past this error to boot. Time to hunt for a TTAV bios...
