T43p died after sata mod
Hello there,
just finished sata mod for one T43p and it was working.
Everything was ok when running dismounted on the desk.
BUT when I finished laptop died.
All it does now is battery charge LED comes on for half a second when charger plugged in and that is it.
Nothing more nothing less.
I've noticed that F2 fuse located just next to power socket was looked like it is blown,
this is fixed now, but laptop still not powering on.
Any ideas?
Ajkula66 or RBS do You know?
regards Brett

You won't be the first, and you won't be the last, where a SATA mod failed.
Check that none of the 'old' 64 pins of the former SATA chip make contact each other.
Also check that all the tiny 3/4 x 1 mm capacitors are there at all 4 wires that you are supposed to solder in.
And don't ask me to fix it, I won't....

Will put it back into cupboard and come back to it later.

Re: T43p died after sata mod
For now I think you should change that monstrous picture into a link.
And OCZ have a very bad reputation.
Wouldn't be surprised if that's the culprit.
Also, do you know that, without HD or SSD, a SATA-modded T43/R52 gives an "Error 200"?
Put a SATA drive back in, and it's gone.

Re: T43p died after sata mod
no matter if with or without hard drive, or with / without ram or whats ever it just wont do anything.
It is a bit weird because as can be seen on the picture, it was working.
OCZ might have bad reputation, but what is faster then VERTEX 4
Yes I do know there is some Error if no hard drive in. It was showing that error without hard drive, but then it gone after hard drive been connected.
Only just tried other charger - nothing
battery only - nothing
well that mean it is time to seek for another planar/damaged T43p

Re: T43p died after sata mod
just gave it last try today and it works.
well it has 0182 Error and sometimes it beeps with memory problem. so motherboard is probably damaged.
It boots sometimes, not always
need a new one again
