Windows 8 Restore Procedure Question?
Windows 8 Restore Procedure Question?
My Windows 8, X230 has a 320gb spinning hard drive, with (I think) 3 original partitions. I have made all the recovery discs one can make, and made routine images as well. If the hard drive dies, and I put in a new one with a single partition, will the discs I've made format the new hard drive to a multiple-partition factory fresh state as the original, or will I lose some capabilities that are only accessible on the original hard drive if it is working?
Re: Windows 8 Restore Procedure Question?
The Windows 8 recovery discs should allow you to restore the laptop to its default stage. I however prefer other imaging utilities such as Norton Ghost or True Image. It seems like you have access to a DVD/CD drive, you can use a bootable True Image CD/DVD to make a raw copy (image) of your drive. That way, you restore you drive to your original format as well as transfer the to a newer or better hard drive.haryo wrote:My Windows 8, X230 has a 320gb spinning hard drive, with (I think) 3 original partitions. Good luck.
