Anyone have an X41 yet?

I bought my X41 about 2 weeks ago but it's yet to ship. Out of curiousity, does anyone here have an X41 in their hot little hands yet? And if so, what are your thoughts? Any attempts to install an alternative OS or use the fingerprint reader?

Ordered mine on April 10th. Shipdate is still reported as May 17th.

basically same situation here. ordered on 4/13 and order status still says it's in process. estimated ship date 5/19.

Ordered two weeks ago, now IBM site says "estimated shipping" date is 5/11/05.

That appears to be the closest date anyone's been promised, but i am not holding my breath.

i got an email yesterday saying that mine i shipping today (5/11). no tracking number yet on the website though.

the website says that the X41 shipped today and the ultrabase will ship later (5/16).

ups guy rings my doorbell. i open the door and it's a box from IBM. i get excited and amazed that delivery was so fast.

i open the box...it's the ultrabase.

Well got two emails saying the order shipped. When I check the associated link the X41 itself is not even in the list

. It shows only the add-ons. In any case FEDEX today delivered the case and memory.

I ordered it from www.computerstore.com (I must admit that the company I work for (SDC) is a owned by IBM, so we may have gotten it a bit faster that way.

I got a 1,5 Pentium M CPU. I haven't tested the battery that much yet, but with the 8 cell battery at normal usage, BT disabled, WiFi enabled and using mostly office, internet browser and Visual studio it lasts for around 6½ hours.

I will gladly take some pictures, but my digital camera is broken, so I will have to borrow another one tomorow.

I called IBM to order mine back on April 21st -- while it was nice that they were able to find me a SKU not available on website (came w/ Bluetooth and wifi and 60GB drive) I was a little disappointed that the RAM would not come preinstalled. What's worse is that the ram the saleman sold me was the wrong type (PC2700 vs PC4200). There's still no estimated shipping date on my unit (probably b/c I ordered via phone) but boy am I eager to have it. I have 4 trips to take yet this month and I'll be dragging my 6# powerbook with me until it shows up.

Pics and a review would be most welcome..

My X41 order said "Est Ship Date 5/11/05" until yesterday, which was of course 5/11/05. Now it says "PACKING" which i view as a pretty good sign!

We'll see.

Hi Ray,
Order was placed 4/31/05 with an estimated ship date of 5/31. I just got an email saying it was shipped 5/15. According to the UPS site it was shipped 5/16 from Hong Kong.

mine is in packing also. that's better than the "in process" that it said a couple of days ago but the est ship date still says CALL which is not as good as the 5/16 that it said last week.
