Worth it to bump up to 3gb?

#1 Post by fefrie » Thu Apr 04, 2013 3:56 pm

I have 2gb of ram, 400mb of which is allocated as a ramdrive, so only 1.6gb available

After surfing for a bit, this is what I have

Commit Charge
1170000 Total
1940000 Limit
1320000 Peak

Kernel Memory
57000 Total
34000 Paged
23000 Non paged

Physical Memory
2090000 Total
760000 Avaialbe
840000 System Cache

Do you think it would be worth it to upgrade?

This laptop is strictly a work machine now, running a browser is the most intensive task.

MS office runs just fine on it.

Maybe a couple of youtube videos here and there, but that's about it.

I'm thinking no, it's not worth it, nor will the performance be noticed?

On a T42 the max RAM is 2 GB. First the biggest DDR SODIMMS you can buy is 1 GB. Second, if you could make your own 2 GB module, the chipset will not accept it.
