Touch not working in desktop mode

#1 Post by Robynb1 » Fri Apr 05, 2013 12:28 am

I just got a Thinkpad touch and for some reason after a few hours useing it touch turns off in desktop mode. It works fine in any of the metro apps and the metro start menu but on the desktop and any of the applications all i get is the little blotches from the touch screen showing a click but it dosent actualy click anything. If I restore the computer back to factory it turns back on but again after a few hours it turns off again. I had a HP convertable tablet and it never did anything like this with either windows 7 or windows 8. Judgeing by the fact that the screen works im guessing I clicked some button somewhere but dont have a clue what. any ideas?

Hi, Robynb1 - I hope you find an answer because my HP desktop sometimes does the same thing. It registers the touch by showing the blotch on the screen, but it won't detect the click for a drag. Sometimes logging off and back on fixes it, which suggests that it's some ancient part of the code involved. This is an infrared screen over USB, but the symptom seems similar to your capacitive screen problem.
