external monitor for X201s

#1 Post by achat_2 » Sat Apr 06, 2013 4:43 pm

Am I correct that the best option to connect to an external monitor an X201s is:

1) to the same aspect ratio 16:10 (e.g. 1920x1200)
2) through docking station and display port

?

what if one use VGA to a 16:9 ?
will this cause a great loss of quality or not?

will I loose the image on the laptop monitor in both cases when connected or not?

You should be able to do 2500x1600 via the display port. I believe the max resolution for the VGA connector is 2048x1536, which mean 1920x1200 shouldn't be a problem, though I've never done it myself.

yes, I know of the maximum resolutions, on both VGA and DP.
but I was wondering about the image quality loss at different aspect ratio.
I am not interested to resolutions over 1900x1200, but I absolutely want the image to be sharp and crispy.

If I remember well I tried in the past to hook to a 1280x1024 (very different aspect ratio) monitor with VGA and the image quality was not good at all.
