Complete Screen T60 2007 Can somebody help compatibility
Complete Screen T60 2007 Can somebody help compatibility
Hi,
My T60's screen has turned dim. Its apparently a common problem.
The fault either is a broken inverter board or a broken backlight.
An extern monitor works fine, so I am not totally out of order.
Anyway, I decided after long consideration to buy a new complete screen.
Here is an item on ebay.de (I am German) which caught my eye:
http://www.ebay.de/itm/Display-Lenovo-T ... 19daef0fb2
Can somebody tell me if the screen is compatible to my Thinkpad T60 2007 CTO?
You would help me very very much!
Greetings
axelo

Welcome to the forum!
Unfortunately, we can't help you based on the information you have so far provided, since you don't have a "standard" ThinkPad (where we could easily see its parts inside), but because you have a "CTO" which means "configured to order". What you therefore have to do is go to the IBM Support Portal and enter the laptop model (= 2007) and its serial-number, which is a seven-figure combination (a mix of letters and digits) that you will either find on the label at the bottom of the machine and/or which is visible in BIOS. When you enter this information you will see a list of the components that was used to build this machine, incl. the LCD (and example of such a list can e.g. be seen in this post where the LCD in this case is the item listed "42T0362 42T0363 FLT PNL DS FRU 14.1 XGA Y"
Let's know that - or post the serial-number of your laptop here but do only post thos information if the warranty on it has expired - check this using the Lenovo Warranty Lookup site where you can also do a Parts Lookup --> here.

Re: Complete Screen T60 2007 Can somebody help compatibility
on the back is a label that says:
TYPE 2007 CTO #############
Product ID 2007WE7.
Apart from that there is no information I can find abou a serial number. Unfort. I cannot
view the BIOS because the screen is too dim. External monitor is only working in Windows mode.
Thanks for your effort though

The serial number is the part on the label that says "S/N ##-#####".
Based on that, Parts Lookup returns the following:
13N7060 13N7061 PANEL LCD14.1SXGA+ Yes
Alternatively, the usual "Quick path" returns the following for 2007WE7:
Based on 2007-CTO: T2500(2GHz), 1GB RAM, 100GB 7200rpm HD, 14.1in 1400x1050 LCD, 64MB ATI Radeon X1300, DVD, Intel 802.11abg wireless, Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, UltraNav, Secure chip, 6c Li-Ion batt, WinXP Pro
Therefore the OP has a 14.1 inch SXGA+ screen.
P.S. To the OP: people will come along and ask you to remove the serial number from your post above, as it's usually considered bad practice to post serial numbers.

Re: Complete Screen T60 2007 Can somebody help compatibility
@Johan:
why do it simple, if you can do it complicated, resp. v.v.?
T4x/R5x/T6x/R6x/X6x laptops have both TYPE and PRODUCT ID on the label.
In the above case, all you needed to do was ask for the Product ID:
TYPE 2007-CTO
PRODUCT ID 2007WE7
Only if both are xxxx-CTO, then you're out of luck and you do need the S/N for parts lookup.
And rather than going to the slow Lenovo site, that is quite often aggravatingly slow, or forever down for some service,
go to IBM instead: http://www-947.ibm.com/support/entry/portal/parts
