It is stated in many threads here that X60s can take up to 4 GB RAM, but only around 3 GB of it will be usable due to hardware limitations. Does this mean that the unused ~1 GB is completely "lost" for the system? Or could it be mounted as a a RAM disk instead?
For background: I'm on Linux and thinking about setting up a poor man's SSD completely noiseless, RAM-booted system as described here.
Thanks for any explanations!
X60s with 4GB RAM: non-utilized memory as ramdisk in linux?

Re: X60s with 4GB RAM: non-utilized memory as ramdisk in linux?
The chipset can only utilize max of 3 GB. So yes the other 1 GB cannot be use at all.
