wireless n card help ar5416 very poor range

I want to get wireless n on my t30 pc so I bought one off eBay. I installed it along with the drivers and it will only connect from 5 feet from router. if I go any further away it looses signal. I put old one back in till Incan et this figured out. also is there a dual channel n card that will work in the t30?
