I've been running Windows 8 on my T430 for a few months now, on my Samsung SSD. I still have Windows 7 installed on my hard disk in the caddy. The laptop has 4 GB of RAM. When I'm using the notebook for some typical work, (ssh session open, chrome and firefox running with about 12 tabs each, visual Studio, and a few notepad windows) Windows will send me a low memory error message, warning me to close programs. If I look in the task manager, it shows that about 3.8 GB is being used under one of these typical situations. And if I try to play Battlefield 3, it will not work well due to the constant memory error messages popping up.
I have a hunch this is related to the constant "Metro" apps running in the background... eating RAM perhaps? I've set up the inane People, Xbox, and Mail applications. But this is driving me up the wall. Windows 7 never chokes on the same laptop... or other laptops with less RAM.
Anyone else with the problem? Or, perhaps, a fix?
Thanks,
Dan
