Melted battery

#1 Post by retired » Sat May 25, 2013 11:46 am

This morning when I went to use my T-60, without adapter it wouldn't turn on, then I plugged in the adaptor , got it to start and I saw the battery was discharged. After awhile, I saw it wasn't charging , turned over the computer and saw that the battery was melted by the removal switch and the narrow side. Panasonic fru 92p1139 - Any ideas on the cause ? Hope it's not the charging system - don't need a repeat. Bad battery ? Battery must be at least 4 years old and still worked for at least an hour. Otherwise these are such good computers.

I'm going to say it's the battery although I'm very surprised that a Panasonic one would exit the stage in that manner.

One way to find out: get another battery, genuine but used...and see how it behaves.

Good luck.
