SD card reader in T420s does not work

Can somebody help? I know that my Ricoh SD card reader in my T420s has worked in the past. All of a sudden Windows Explorer cannot see the card, no matter what card I insert. I checked Device Manager and under IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers it shows "Ricoh PCIe SDXC/MMC Host Controller" working properly. Nevertheless I uninstalled and reinstalled from the Lenovo support site (http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/researc ... D=HT063249) to no avail.
My Thinkpad runs Windows 7 Professional 64bits and I have the latest Windows updates as well as Lenovo Thinkpad updates installed.
