T42p Port Rep II External display DVI to HDMI TV Issues

#1 Post by TaffyBoy » Tue Jun 04, 2013 3:26 pm

Hi All,
I've searched around before posting this and can't find a solution.
I'm not getting anything on the TV (no source detected message) although laptop screen goes black when I connect the cable.
T42P with Fire GL2 128MB, Port replicator II connected to DVI - HDMI cable to Panasonic 55" Plasma.
As mentioned on a few sites, i've uninstalled ATI and installed Omega driver v3.8.252.
Tried many different settings but still no TV signal and display goes black when connected and cannot be returned until cable is unplugged.
I've also tried checking the 'Extend desktop to this monitor' box, screen goes black as if it's being modified and comes back with box unchecked again.
I'd like to think there is a simple solution to this but as yet I haven't found it!
Please help!!

Thanks.

I think we need to remember that HDMI is newer (2003) than the Thinkpad T4x series. I wasn't aware that you could get an HDMI signal from any thinkpad T4x accessory. I have not tried your configuration, instead, I use an XGA cable and a line/headphone output (from the laptop) connected to the line input to my amp.

Lots of thinkpads (10+) but I would never be so stupid as to list them all because that would spam everybody's searches and people who *do* try to list them all would be jerks.
