How to attach 4 monitors

#1 Post by koden » Thu Jun 20, 2013 8:17 am

Hi

How do I attach 3 monitors to my T520 4240-5BG?

I have seen some have 3 monitors attached to the docking station and then the laptop screen as nr. 4.

But how to do that...

I have only 1 vga and 1 dvi in my docking.
I'm danish. Sorry for my sometimes bad english spelling and understanding.

You'd probably need the mini dock plus, seen here.

Seems that thinkpad display always need to be display 1 ?

Is it not possible to have 3 monitors active and closed lid on laptop?

maybe 3 active monitors and also open lid as 4 display?

And then move windows between all 3 or 4 ?

I don't have this dock.

maybe I could connect 3 monitors with:

1 VGA
1 AVI
1 AVI to HDMI

is the last one possible with a AVI to HDMI converter?

you can just use the Displayport from the laptop itself, then you can use all four monitors externally.
Current ThinkPad: T430u, T430s, X1 Carbon, X1, X230t, X220t, X230, X220, X201t, W520, W701ds, T500, T420 and many more

Ok..

So what I need is

monitor 1 on VGA port docking
monitor 2 on DVI port docking
monitor 3 on HDMI port docking
monitor 4 on the laptops own VGA port

But what program will I have to use to set it up?

I have done this:

monitor 1 on VGA port docking
monitor 2 on DVI port docking
monitor 3 on HDMI port docking

And it's almost working.

Sometime the 3 screen after reboot says cable not connected.

And because mu default screen is more wide screen than the other 2, one of the other screens have problems with the lower part of the picture.
It disapears 1/3 from the buttom of screen.
