Resuming windows

#1 Post by koden » Fri Jun 21, 2013 2:34 pm

I have a problem with my laptop..

I have just got a T520.
before that I had T420 and before again T61

When I had the T61 bi could close the lid and laptop went to sleep (assume that the moon symbol is sleep and not hibernate).

Then I next day could open the lidt and it was ready to log on in 10 sec.

but when i got the T420 it went to sleep (moon symbol) when closing lid, but it did not take more than 1 hour or less, then moon symbol turned off.
When I then open the lid again the laptop needed 5 min or more to resume windows.
I assume it have went to hibernate when moon symbol turned off.

I have tried all kind of settings in the power options.

I thought it was the batteri that was not good enough and have lived with it for long time.

But then I got my T520 some days ago and it does exactly the same, and it has a brand new battery with more than 3 hours power.

How do I set up my power options to get the same settings as my T61 had?
I miss my fast opening from my T61 :-)
I'm danish. Sorry for my sometimes bad english spelling and understanding.

Find a setting in the BIOS that controls standby-to-hibernate and disable it.
Current: X220 4291-4BG, T410 2537-R46, T60 1952-F76, T60 2007-QPG, T42 2373-F7G
Collectibles: T430s (IPS FHD + Classic Keyboard), X32 (IPS Screen)
Retired: X61 7673-V2V, A31p w/ Ultrabay Numpad
Past: Z61t 9440-A23, T60 2623-D3U, X32 2884-M5U

I found a setting in the power manager in advanced - power plan - advanced settings - idle timers

where i have set "enter system hibernation" to never.

the problem on such a Lenovo is that there is windows power options and Lenovo power manager..

who decides what applies??

Generally the Windows power options and the Lenovo power manager apply the same settings. Changes in one will often reflect in the other. In principle you don't have to use the Power Manager - most of the settings there are configurable natively within Windows. The BIOS settings tend to be more global. Trial and error will determine how stuff works.
