Good forum, and I hope your experience can help me.
I've a T20 that's served me well. Recently the display will reduce it's contrast when the top right hand corner is pulled inward, putting a slight twist on the LCD, so it appears to be some kind of mechanical connection problem. Over time, the faded contrast display has become permanent, and only becomes high-contrast when I move the screen. I replaced the internal display ribbon cable -- same problem. Manipulating the cable connectors didn't help. I'm afraid there is a failing connection in the back of the LCD, but would appreciate your thoughts. I don't believe it's the flourescent display, since the display alone glows constantly and well with the ribbon signal cable disconntected.
Before I replace the LCD panel, is anyone aware of a problem with the inverter that can cause this; or is there a fix related to the LCD panel that I'm not aware of?
Second question: is there a favored site for low-cost IBM replacement parts (new, not used).
Thanks in advance for your thoughts--
Terry
