DUMMY CARD FOR PCI SLOT T61
DUMMY CARD FOR PCI SLOT T61
I have a T61 that had a plastic dummy card filling out the PCI slot. Unfortunately I have lost it.
Where can I buy a new dummy card?

Re: DUMMY CARD FOR PCI SLOT T61
More information is needed because there are no "PCI slots" on a T61 and there are four different "plastic dummy" fillers. One is for the 5in1 card reader on the 15.4" models which is rarely ever used, next is for the sim card reader that is behind the battery mostly on wwan equipped models. There is an ultrabay travel "blank" so you can leave out the optical drive to make the laptop lighter to carry, and lastly there is a pcmcia blank that is only used on 14" widescreen models that have the ricoh 4in1 card reader option.
I have a feeling it's the last that you are looking for. I do have one but I'd prefer to sell it with the card reader and bezel as a complete set, to sell it separate would greatly reduce the value of the device I'm selling but there are generic blanks available.
You can try this one that is from a Dell laptop. I can't say for sure if it will be a perfect fit, but it's only $2.75 so not much harm in trying.

Re: DUMMY CARD FOR PCI SLOT T61
thank you very much TuuS for your reply.
I should ofcourse have been more precise. I think its the pcmcia as you suggest. its on the left side
towards the front with those 2 grey small push buttons.
I would prefer to get the right one rather than trying out. How much is your unit and do you know
a source for the right blanks..?
much obliged

Re: DUMMY CARD FOR PCI SLOT T61
Is this the same as the "Smart Card Reader" (as in say my Army ID card with the little gold chip in it), because the PCMCIA / PC Card slots usually had a spring loaded hinge that kept the slots closed when there was no card9s) in the slot(s).

hello cadillacmike
yes, I know that the model apparently also comes with a hinge, but not mine
which had the plastic dummies for thePCMCIA slot.

Check on eBay with pcmcia blank.
It will show you the different models that are available.

You still haven't told us what model you have. If your laptop had two blanks installed, then it's likely someone broke the flap and instead of replacing it they used the blanks, in this case I can provide the parts to fix it properly. There was only one model that used a blank and it used only one.

Hi TuuS
Thats a possibility ofcourse that I didnt think of.
Well, its a Lenovo ThinkPad T61 as I mentioned in a 15.4 inch version.
Type is 6466-946 S/N L3 Dxxxx 08/02 <- Admin edit: Masked serial number for user's security
I hope this is sufficient information.
Thank you for your help.

Re: DUMMY CARD FOR PCI SLOT T61
That machine should have a flap. I can pull the flap from a laptop and send it to you if you want to fix it properly. I'll send you a PM with details.
Re: DUMMY CARD FOR PCI SLOT T61
This machine as I said does not have a flap, but it should. You are right.
