System Update on Win 8.1?

#1 Post by ArtShapiro » Tue Jul 09, 2013 1:40 pm

Anyone gotten this guy to install on the newfangled 8.1?

I can't get past accepting the license terms; hitting Next seems to do nothing. I've tried a couple of times over the last week, and it doesn't look promising.

You need to install from the command line. Assuming you are looking to install 5.02.

Start an Administrator CMD window and run:
systemupdate502-06-26-2013.exe -s -a /v"/qn"

When I was running 8.1 on my X61T, even trying to install System Update from the command line failed to work. I was having the same issues as the people above me.

Has anyone successfully gotten that to work from the command line?

I was the OP in this thread.

Yes, I did get it to work from the command line. I don't recall if it was the exact set of options suggested here, as I had subsequently found the same question and a good answer over on the Lenovo forums. So it would appear to be possible.

I'm a bit surprised Lenovo hasn't re-engineered the installation routines by now.

As an update to this old thread, and for future reference, I just installed W8.1 on my T230 and System Update wouldn't install either. It turns out that you needed .NET framework 3.5, not just the latest version (4.5). Once I installed v3.5, system updated installation went smoothly.
