T60 not turning on after spilled water

#1 Post by aaq84 » Thu Jul 11, 2013 4:37 am

hello,

I mistakenly spilled like 25/50ml of water on my T60, it was working fine, just a blotch on the LCD's bottom right corner and keyboard was wet, so I was drying it up while after 5/10 minutes it automatically turned off and afterwards I cleaned it with a cloth then it didn't turn on, I thought maybe a drop of two have penetrated inside so I left it for the night, in the morning it turned on but after the boot screen appearing for 2/3 seconds it turned off again, I left if again that its getting better perhaps, next morning I tried again but again the boot screen would last for 2/3 seconds and it'd be off. so I used a hair dryer to try to push in warm air wherever I could, from the keyboard, fingerprint scanner, exhaust fans, battery slot, etc. afterwards its again not turning on at all.

I'm guessing some water fragments went inside and hasn't dried up yet. any ideas what to do?

any help will be highly appreciated..

I'm guessing worse. The spilled water probably shorted out and damaged something. Typically after having any electronic item in contact with water, I'll let it sit for a few days to make sure it's completely dry before trying to use it.

You probably will need to replace the system board, once water gets in the circuits it can do much damage.

Luckily T60 boards are usually pretty cheap.
