t61 hot keys OSD stopped working - solution found
Hi,
yesterday I made some updates on my T61 in terms of Win XP updates and some Lenovo Software updates. As a result it turned out that Hotkeys OSD stopped to respond - some features still work without OSD graphic indication (like Thnikpad Light), and some has stopped permanently (ie Fn + f3 or sound mute). I've tried to play with uninstalling/installing Hotkey drivers (event from other Lenovo notebooks series) but with no satisfying result Is there any way to roll back changes and make clean install praying all will work again?

Re: t61 hot keys OSD stopped working
I've got the same problem with my T61 only with a fresh install of XP. According to a thread I was reading earlier today, the Lenovo hotkey/OSD software has compatibility issues with the driver for the Intel X3100 integrated graphics processor. Hmmm...
IBM: 240X, 360Cs, 570E, 2×600E, 700C, 755CDV, 760E, 760EL, 770E, T20, 2×T22, T23, A22m, A30, T30, X30, X31, R40, X41t, T42, T42p UXGA, T43 14" SXGA+, T43 15" UXGA, T43p, 2×R51, i1400, Z60t, more...
lenovo: T60 SXGA+, 2×T61 4:3 Intel, X200 (P8600, 4 GB, 320 GB 7k2, 9-cell)

Re: t61 hot keys OSD stopped working
To be honest I followed the recommendation of my Lenovo Update Software CRAP
application and made an upgrade for Hotkey features. Previously everything had worked OK, after an update I wasn't able to sort things out. To mine mind there have some issues left in registers or some dlls and only fresh install would help but this is not an option for me. I cant even use original drivers from standard folder as I have overwritten them with new ones.
Maybe someone has original fresh drivers from 2008 or so. HELP, HELP me please

If you have a restore point saved, you could try windows system restore.

When I am in Gorzów I will check system restore history, but I'm afraid there is nothing interesting/helpful in there

Re: t61 hot keys OSD stopped working
Never use the Windows update stuff for drivers. It always fails and breaks the whole thing with some half-stripped driver.
Let me check later tonight if I still have the Hotkey Utility. Perhaps I still have them stored somewhere from the XP install on my T61... I guess 4 years ago.
But what exactly did you upgrade? Did you get drivers from Windows update?

Re: t61 hot keys OSD stopped working - solution found
As I said i used Lenovo Update Software. It listed some updates and there was Hotkeys update option. I accepted that recommendation and now I cant use Hotkey OSD feature
Hurraaaaa. I've managed to find a solution. I found some old soft from 2010 in the Internet and installed it. Hotkey features are back and working
. Really happy!
