Fastest DVD Burner for T61
Fastest DVD Burner for T61
I have done some searching at it looks to me that the 39T2829 is the latest and fastest DVD burner that fits a T61.
Is this correct?
Also, is it correct that burners for the T400 and up will not work?
TIA

Re: Fastest DVD Burner for T61
Not sure about it being the quickest and fastest. I find fastest is not always the most desirable when it comes to burning CD/DVD. Burn quality is better at slower speeds.
Yes, the T400 and T61 Ultrabay interface are different. T61 is a PATA interface while the T400 and newer are all SATA.

Re: Fastest DVD Burner for T61
I recommend burning your discs at the slowest speed, this is most important with video discs. A fast burn will often read slower, much like trying to read someone's handwriting when it was written in a hurry.
The latest drive can be an advantage if it supports more disc types, but I wouldn't consider the writing speed to be a factor that concerns me.
ps. If you're looking for a dvd burner I have some starting at just $19, or I have some CDrw/DVDrom drives for only $4.99 plus shipping. I may also still have one or two virtually brand new drives pulled from mint 08/08 T61p units which in most cases were never used.

There has been a UJ-232 Engineering Sample for T61, not sure if it burns faster than 39T2829
It's way better to use a external DVD burner

Re: Fastest DVD Burner for T61
If you want the fastest you might look into getting eSata in the Expresscard slot and an external burner.
That is... if internal isn't a requirement.

Thanks for the replies.
I went ahead and ordered a 39T2829
I got lucky and picked up a very clean T61 of EBay a couple of weeks ago. Nice 1680 X 1050 LCD. 6457-6PU.
It is going to get some use so I want to "max" it out. Probably will not change the cpu but might go from 2 to 4 gigs on the ram and add a SSD.
