t60p removal keyboard bezel, need help please

#1 Post by thebest2012 » Thu Jul 18, 2013 6:27 pm

I have a t60p 15.4" where I am attempting to replace the hinges, I have to remove the keyboard bezel? to get at them, for some reason it doesn't come out (the bezel) While trying to pull up on the bezel under the lcd( in the center area) I can't seem to pry the bezel out. Did I miss a screw maybe in the battery compartment? Please do not refer me to maint. manual.
Thank you for your assistance.

There are only 4 screws to remove, one on each bottom corner and 2 from the LCD-clamp.
Then lift up both short sides and pull the whole thing toward you. No prying at all.

Thanks very much for your help. This model is a t60p. Is the video connector in the middle as you described the only wire/connector from the lcd that goes to the board or are there other screws I must attach etc for now it boots up to a black screen (normal video to an external monitor)?
There are 2 wires by the Left Hinge but those are only for the wifi, correct?
Also there were several other screws on the metal plate on top of the fan that I removed, tiny silver colored like the ones holding in the video connector. Removed bios battery, placed back in at reset time and defaults in bios. Black screen but fan etc ok.

Forgot that you have a widescreen.
They have 2 more screws up top, one at each end of the bezel-legs.
And there are 2 or 3 screws holding the thin metal frame over the fan.
Why don't you want to look in the HMM?
That's where it is all properly described with pictures...

It sounds like the plastic clips, four if memory is correct above battery area are stuck. If you removed the two screws from the bottom of the laptop, two from LCD cable claim, and the other 4-5 small screws then lift each of the legs on either side of the keyboard and gently pull towards you alternating on each leg. If it has been assembled for over 5years they tend to want to stay together, but it should gently snap free and after it moves about 1/8th inch towards you the clips will release.

I've seen them get stuck like this often, sometimes but as long as you have all the screws removed it should brake free easy enough. If you should happen to damage the part I have several of them available.
