Hi there,
I was cleaning my X61 tablet fan, but I broke the power outlet of the fan. The plastic cover of the end of the outlet plug was separated into two parts, and hence the red, black and yellow wires slided off from the socket slots. I want to know where should I plug in the red, black and yellow wires to the motherboard. I notice that there are four slots in the motherboard for the three wires. I know the order of the wires, but I don't know which slot of the socket should I jump over. I searched online for clear pictures of the fan wires, but I haven't gotten any good one. The FRU number of my fan is 42X4399 (4pin model). Please give me an amplified picture of the fan outlet plug, if you have one at hand. Thanks!
Regards,
Qi

Re: X61 tablet fan outlet
Ok, I am lucky! My guess was right. All wires are next to each other, and the red one is on the very left side... So, the fan works. I only plug the wires in the sockets, without any plastic cover. I don't know how long it can last...

Get some heat shrink tubing, or just put some scotch tape or similar on..

Don't have such stuffs. I merely pushed the pins in firmly, but put nothing to cover it. Now, idle temperature is around 46-48 C. Better than my X200 tablet, which has ~55 C while idle.
