T400 (AT3) w/WWAN option?

#1 Post by videonerd » Fri Jul 26, 2013 9:44 pm

Hi everyone, I just bought this refurbed T400 for my parents from the IBM online store.

I'm looking everywhere to see if it has the WWAN option - I just need the antennas there, that's it, I have the MC7700 from my old Panasonic Toughbook. Does anyone know how to find out more about this?

Well, my guess would be that it doesn't since WWAN is not listed along the other connectivity options.

Secondly, you can't use a WWAN card from a ToughBook in a ThinkPad of any kind. The BIOS will throw an error and you won't get past the boot screen.

Even if you get a modded BIOS for that T400, I doubt that the card from a Panasonic will fly. You might have to tape certain pins and stuff like that.

Good luck.

Ahhh yes... I forgot about IBM/Lenovo locking WLAN/WWAN cards... I think HP does it too?
ARGH.

Well, I guess I'll just have to wait for the T400 to arrive before doing anything about it. bah. Wanted all my toys NOW!! :)
