Hi people!
My x220 has been getting hotter and hotter in the last days.
I'm not the kind of person that actually shuts down the computer, i just leave it in stand by on the desk or shut it down to suspend-to-ram and this never gave me a problem.
I began noticing this problem since i switched from Debian Wheezy (who used to randomly freeze) to Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS (3.5.0-36 kernel).
Any hints/ideas ? Should i open the laptop and clean it from dust?
Thanks in advance,
Rzl
X220 running HOT -- should i worry ?
Re: X220 running HOT -
Believe it or not, my X220 runs hot in summer too.
The room temperature heavily affects the CPU temperature. By switching to Ubuntu I presume you did a clean install. You might want to instal TLP to activate all power saving features. (pretty much like installing the chipset drivers under Windows)

Re: X220 running HOT -
Mine has had some issues after suspend but overall runs ok (i7 version here)..
I would try to understand the distro you are running; i personally hate Ubuntu, the people who tend to use it are windows/os10 expats and tend to know nothing in regards to whats under the hood.
If you are willing to read a little, this post might help

You might also want to post your concerns over on a Ubuntu forum as well..
