Slightly broken x120e, for free if you'll pay shipping

#1 Post by tbessie » Mon Jul 29, 2013 12:40 am

I accidentally stepped on my x120e (it was next to my bed), and broke something related to the display.

It still boots, but the screen is barely readable - all kinds of fun lines, colors and distortions. Either the LCD is broken (no visible cracks or anything, however), or the connector to it is; either way, I decided to replace it with a newer model.

If anyone can make any use of this, I'd gladly give it to you, if you'll pay for shipping. It has 8gb of ram, and is the dual-core AMD E-350 model. The drive I was using is an SSD I installed, so I can't send that, though I could send the original hard drive that came with it. Due to the state of the machine, I don't think I can restore the OS on it, so you'd get a blank hard drive.

If anyone wants this, please contact me. Otherwise it's trash. :-(

I'll let you know - DaKKS is in Denmark, and it would be kind of expensive to ship it there; I've asked him via PM if he wants to pay that much for a broken-screen computer. :-)

Hey folks...

DaKKS' forum post had the earliest timestamp of forum posts and PMs, so I'm sending the computer to him.

I'll let folks know if he changes his mind, but otherwise it's no longer available. Didn't realize so many people would want one!

tbessie,

They want it cause it's "free." Free attracts everybody. That's human nature. Plus, you know, there's a little techie voice in all of us that thinks he/she can fix the thing and blast into the future with a nice little Thinkpad for a pocketful of change. I too considered getting hold of you to send me the computer, but my buzzer finger isn't as fast as it used to be; the rest of the world beat me to it. It is what it is. Glad you found a home for it. Hope the lad from Denmark can bring it back to life.
