Z61m Machine Type

#1 Post by jronald » Fri Aug 02, 2013 8:02 pm

So Im building a TI lid Z61m for the Uunderboi.
The Machine Type is wrong, and so far I have only been able to change the last 3 digits, with the windows based utilitys. Found and downloaded the required disc. Cant find the instructions to use it.
I know its taboo to speak about its use, so if some one can PM me directions, to the directions I would appreciate it!

Thanks
Ron

Got a hold of the Windows version to change the Model Number of the New MoBo. The first 4 digits were greyed out, nothing I tried seemed to work. I was able to change the last 3 to the correct "A38"

Now
OK for what ever reason, the memory stick errors out every time I try to create it.
Floppy works just fine. Changed the bogus numbers out
Was "BTSHELL1234567"
Now "9450A38L3BR202"
Also changed the Sys Board serial number

Deleted System Update, powered off
Reinstalled Sys Up
Still reads "BTSHA38"
Bios shows the correct info, sys up on the other hand................

What gives?

You would have to change it, using the HMD field 20.
First DELETE it, then Enter NEW: 1S9450A38L3BR202
UUID is optional (but recommended) afterwards.
Never mind the board #.

Tried it both ways, sort of suspect it is stored in windows, BUT WHERE! (the wrong info)

Next time, please try to be clearer in your description of problems!
It seems that the BIOS updates went fine, but SystemUpdate is not recognizing it!
(because SU stores it in Registry, and then conveniently forgets to check for changes! Lazy/Lousy Lenovo programmers).
