I know the power plug is different but I don't pull anywhere near 135w on my w520. Will it physically fit and work? I need the 2nd intel nic for my pfsense utm.

My W520 will run and charge with a 135w charger. However, I haven't tried that with the 4337. I do have a 4338 which worked with the 135w charger, however, my normal setup is to use the 170w on the dock, and the 135w when I take the W520 out of the office. I think the 4337 and 4338 are similar (except 4337 does not accept the 170w charger) so my guess is you will be able to use the W520 with 4337+135w. However, you may have some limitation on the number/type of peripherals you can use.

Some sources claim the 170 W must be used with the W520 docked.

However you slice it: Lenovo screwed up. They have way too many part numbers for an almost identical piece, and nobody really knows what you get.

On eBay it's an even bigger mess where some are selling the 170W-compatible dock with a 135 W supply....

And then off all those versions there is an identical one that lacks the eSata port and "gives" one lousy USB 3.0 port in return (avoid! avoid!, eSata is much faster).

Lenovo can take a lesson from Festool: they have a 6-digit (numbers only!) number for everything: from the smallest screw to an enormous set of machine and accessories: all of it makes sense, and when it doesn't, you can find their phone number in an instant and someone that resides in the same country you called from will resolve it.
