T420 Keyboards - Why 3 FRUs per keyboard?

#1 Post by arlab » Tue Aug 13, 2013 2:15 am

Hi,

I'm looking to buy a new T420 keyboard. The FRUs are listed in this Keyboard service parts - ThinkPad T420, T420i page.

Why are there three FRUs per language? In the old days, there used to be 3 different keyboards: ALPS, Chicony and NMB... Is this what this is all about? Which FRU corresponds to which manufacterer? Which is better?
