Unreal shipping time for T43!!! and some other things...

On 5/02 I called to order the 2379-DXU...it was EXACTLY what I wanted and with EPP pricing, how could I pass it up. Given the shipping time delays by the sales rep, however, I could not wait--I needed it for 5/23. Instead, he offered me the T43 2668-88U for $60 more (or something like that), with the following specs:

-1.86 GHz
-512 MB DDR2 PC4200 RAM (1 stick, planning on purchasing another 512 from a fellow board member)
-64MB X300 (I dont game, this is more than sufficient)
-15" SXGA+ (I don't see myself moving this around much, so I'll take the extra inch and flex-view)
-40GB 5400 (the one drawback... I can buy a 7K60 from someone for $150--should I do this and use the current drive as an external?)
-3 year warranty

He told me it should arrive by 5/23, and so I believed him, though slightly worried by the posted 2-3 weeks SHIPPING date. Being impatient, I checked shipping updates daily. Original shipdate was 5/16, plenty of time to arrive by 5/23 I thought...two days later, 5/18, two more days 5/23. At this time, however, the status said "packing" and not "in process." Being confused, I made a call. I did not complain, say I was upset, in a hurry, etc... I just asked why the estimated ship dates were pushed back, while my status improved to "packing." Not much more info could be given to me, however, but I was assured that the "packing" was a good sign and that it should be here by the 23rd.

So I check this morning--SHIPPED it says. And what's this? UPS Ground? (which was free to begin with) NOPE, somehow it's now UPS Next Day PM. Just checked tracking a few minutes ago---it's in TRANSIT.

Needless to say, I am extremely pleased with Lenovo/IBM. As a summary, I ordered after 5pm EST on 5/02, and it should be arriving in the PM on 5/11.

lesson to learn: shipping dates are overly shot....you'll get your tp faster than you thought. Don't be detered by their long estimated shipping date.

That's the first sign that Levono will be just as good as IBM. The shipping dates are just as off

This is just a rare case, my order is in packing status for one week!
