x220 tablet screen latch broke

#1 Post by Timpel_800 » Sat Aug 17, 2013 11:15 am

Hello,
I managed to break the rightside latch that is supposed to hold the screen in place when the laptop is closed. Is there any solution to this? From what i've read I don't get much hope... It's kinda anoying since i bought this thinkpad for being solid. But it can't even survive a trip in my backpack (which has a specialiy designed section for it). But if anyone knows, I really like to hear.

regards
tim

I am having this same issue, I've replace the part (Which is the piece of plastic that wraps around the keyboard, and under the screen) which requires a lot of work to replace, and shortly after replacing the part, the same peg/latch fell off. So I don't think there is a good fix, since it's a bad design on Lenovo's part.

without knowing the x220 the keyboard bezel should be a quick and straightfoward remove and replace.. usually just about 8 or so small screws on the bottom..

if you recently replaced this part and got it from lenovo they SHOULD, with some coaxing, replace the part free..

the first thing "they" will ask is why did you break it.. the answer will be it failed due to an inherent design flaw..

you might need to take this to the next level of customer support..

good luck and welcome to the forum..
