Problem configuring Bluetooth for T41P
Problem configuring Bluetooth for T41P
Hi,
I have a T41p and Palm Treo 650 (Unlocked GSM) I have been trying to create a Bluetooth connection between the T41P and Treo 650 all day but I get an error code.
I have IBM Bluetooth software. Both IBM and Treo 650 see each other but thats it. Treo requires a virtual Serial port but I get either a Time out error or the IBM wizard tells me The Treo 650 does not support Bluetooth serial port (which is not true).
I appreciate if any one can resolve this problem for me especially someone with a Treo 650 so that I can configure mine exactly like theirs.
Thanks
Sepehr

No I'm not using PdaNet. To be honest I do not know even what it is.
My Treo 650 is Unlocked GSM but I'm not using GPRS yet because its way too expensive here (Dubai).
I tried everything But nothing worked. Both the T41P and Treo 650 see each other but I can not pair them together. I either get a Time out Error or T41P tells me the Treo 650 does not support Serial Port!
Any idea?

Hi Sepehr,
I still think I might be able to help you. Because both your T41P and Treo650 see each other, your almost there. Bluetooth serial COM ports do not automatically pair, you must do that manually. I think the COM port that your Treo650 is set at is different than the COM port your T41P is set at. An example, Treo650 COM port 4 and T41P COM port 3. On your T41P open your "My Bluetooth Places" and click on "view or modify configuration" That will tell you the COM port the T41P is set to. Than pair that to the COM port your Treo650 is using and you should have success.

Well my friend the only other thing I have to offer is a link to the software I use. They offer a free trial so you have nothing to loose. The way Sprint in the States have programed there Treo650's, it's the only option for me. I don't think this software (PdaNet) is necessary for you. That being said, download the free trial software and hopefully that will get you up and running while you try to link without it.
I forgot to mention. This software also allows you to link with your "HotSync cable that in fact gives you a faster link when using the Treo650 as a modem.

Thanks Mike,
I tried everything. I undocked my T41P, disabled the Infrared, uninstalled, reinstalled nothing works.
The T41P and Treo 650 see each other but they do not pair!
T41P tells me the Treo 650 can not support serial port!
Anyway I'm told USB is faster and more reliable but I was hoping when I travel I would not have to carry the USB cable. Well I tried.
I will give it a rest and experiment with it some other time.
Thanks for your input.
