Does Lenovo sell Thinkpads with 32-bit Windows?
The header says it all. I use 32-bit Windows because I don't want to give up my DOS and 16-bit Window programs, and don't want to run an emulator inside Windows. I have an MSDN account so I have a copies of 32-bit Windows, but would prefer a Lenovo preload version for the sake of convenience.
I don't see any 32-bit Windows options on Lenovo's site, but maybe I haven't searched thoroughly. Any information would be welcome.

I don't think they do anymore. (at least out-of-the-box in the normal ones)
I know the processors are 32-bit capable though.
I think your best bet is just getting something and putting 32-bit Windows on it. (I'm sure you're aware of the RAM limitation)

You can get Recovery CD or DVD sets of both 32 and 64 bit versions of XP, Vista, W7 and W8.
From Lenovo they probably cost ca. $50.-
You can use e.g. a T410 set on machines as far down as a T43.
You can get your Thinkpads anywhere.
The matter of a matching COA (or not) is entirely up to you.

Thanks for that. I'll call to ask about availability for the current X and T series before buying.

These legacy applications runs in virtualized/emulated mode in 32 bit Windows as well.Edward Mendelson wrote:I don't want to give up my DOS and 16-bit Window programs, and don't want to run an emulator inside Windows.

Re: Does Lenovo sell Thinkpads with 32-bit Windows?
Sorry. I should have said:
"I don't want to run them in a third-party emulator like DOSBox or VirtualBox, instead of in the NTVDM built into 32-bit Windows, because only the NTVDM gives straightforward access to the file system, using the same paths, etc., that are visible in the Windows Explorer and in the cmd.exe command prompt (although of course the NTVDM displays 8.3 filenames instead of long filenames)."
But I assumed it would be clear that this is what I meant by saying, "I don't want to use an emulator."
