Alternative fan for T4x
Alternative fan for T4x
I know this is a dead horse I'm beating and I apologize in advance, but I came across a fan with more modern design than the one shipped in the T43 on fleabay.

The fin layout is denser from 13 to 18 blades (looks like a T/W500 fan), so I'm hoping this would equate to better airflow. Does anyone have any thoughts/experience with this? I'm very interested in testing it out.
Edit: for reference, this is a stock t43 fan: http://i01.i.aliimg.com/wsphoto/v0/8571 ... b-font.jpg

Re: Alternative fan for T4x
To me the housings look quite different.
But if you somehow manage to fit the non-T4x one, why not try it?
It's cheap enough.

D.E.F hasn't stopped others from posting before so go right ahead...Peptate wrote:I know this is a dead horse I'm beating and I apologize in advance, <snip>
Perhaps it's best to follow the suggestion posted by the eBay seller in his/her description:Peptate wrote:Does anyone have any thoughts/experience with this? I'm very interested in testing it out.
Tips: Some HEATSINK fan hole is not fixed right. Fixed to the heat sink holes need to modify the HEATSINK. Or fixed with glue.I read this quasi-English statement as acknowledgement that the fan is not really designed as a drop-in replacement for the original and that one needs to either drill the proper mounting holes or glue

Re: Alternative fan for T4x
Interesting find.
From the pictures in the eBay ad, to me it looks,
that this could be an unfinished fan casing, where the metal sheet stamping was not done yet/correctly.
There is no metal *around* the fan and therefore air would be distributed in the casing, instead
of outside at one side.
I habe just fitted an refurbished original LongFan into a T43p and found out,
that I had to refit some small streches of sticky foam tape around the fan,
so that no hot air would be re-circulated into the casing.

Re: Alternative fan for T4x
Guaranteed that fan is for a T60 fan assembly. I've just bought one just like it the other day.

Re: Alternative fan for T4x
Guess I just got a bit excited.
I ran that FRU and it comes back for a T60/T60p. Seller is giving generic answers and refusing to confirm or deny that image is not a T43 fan. :/
