Blog suggestions?

I've been thinking of starting a blog/online journal. Does anyone have experience with them? Any blog recommendations?

Well, wordpress worked great for me until the great blog death of 2010. Only been back sporadically since then, though from what i've seen, it hasnt changed much. Still my favorite.

What great blog death of 2010? I never heard any such thing. Wordpress, isn't that owned by Microsoft?

I put in a request to the proper channels about implementing a blog add-on for phpbb, but that's up to the powers-that-be if they want to install that or not. So I'm looking at alternatives. If they did install it here, I would make use of it.

I use blogger for mine. Pretty easy to use, has some templates ready to rock and roll.

I dont think its onwd by microsoft. At least not directly. And the great blog death was a crash that deleted a shltload of blogs. Mine among others. Back in 2010, october i think.

Never bothered to restart it again.

I like to write, and writing in a journal helps some times to gain perspective on things. I write in a regular journal regularly, but I wouldn't mind trying a blog and perhaps sharing it with close friends/family.
I was messing around the other day, and got an offline version of phpbb running locally on my computer, and was experimenting with posting journal entries on it (I *really* love the layout of phpbb, it makes it perfect for such a thing).
I think I remember hearing about blogspot somewhere, so I'll give them a look as well. Wordpress seems to allow you to make it private which I like. So we'll see. Thank you for the suggestions so far!

I use livejournal for my thoughts for when I don't feel like writing in a journal...

I have tumblr but it is mainly for pictures, I see some writing from friends time to time but I am not sure about the layouts.
