Well Duh!
So I have been a Science Fiction fan from the time I was old enough to read my fathers paperback books. Frank Hebert's Dune was/is a long time favorite.

So Im killing time on Youtube, and stumble on this:

I remember that Sting was in the movie, but it just never clicked for me that the song was sung from Muad'Dib perspective.
The books, more than 40 years old
The song almost 15 years old.
Duh

Re: Well Duh!
I can relate to Dune. Duh!
Didn't really think about Sting's song until you brought it up. Beautiful eyes in the youtube video!
IMO, the book was really the best. I believe I prefer the Italian 3-episode Dune (2000) TV Mini-Series, over the movie (1984) Sting was in.

I've never read the books, but I did love that mini-series and the follow up Children of Dune mini-series.

Re: Well Duh!
I have read most of the books, seen both movies, the mini series and the children of dune series.
I am a HUGE Dune fan.
That being said, I had no idea that the 2 were linked.
The spice must flow.

Re: Well Duh!
I find that most Science Fiction, could be Future Fact. Most of the stuff I read, was not "that" far out there. Give it a few hundred years (not thousands) and we could be there.
My Father left me at least 1000 books. By and large its the genre I mentioned. There is some Dragon Riders of Pern, and Wizard of EarthSea, as well as Tolkien, but Asimov, Heinlein and Pol are just about everywhere!

Have you read "Steel Beach" by John Varley per chance? It's a bit out there, but much of it could be in the realm of possibility at some point in the future.jronald wrote:I find that most Science Fiction, could be Future Fact. How about any SF by Vernor Vinge? [also authored: "Fast Times at Ridgemont High"]

William Gibson - Neuromancer, Mona Lisa Overdrive, Idoru, etc.
The more I re-read his works, the more I am convinced it's a future were headed for. Pretty much the only thing he didn't cover was the fusion of man and nanotechnology.
