Reformatting to 8.1 tonight; BIOS to UEFI changes?

#1 Post by mybellyisempty » Tue Sep 10, 2013 7:24 am

Now that 8.1 is out and downloaded, I'm going to reformat my X230t.

I also plan on changing over to UEFI boot. Is there anything else that should be done with that change? (I've read something about MBR vs GUID when using UEFI, but can't remember what it said, as it was several months ago. Should I just run a DBAN and let Windows figure it out?)

You want GUID, assuming you're doing a clean install.

If you don't mind a little reading here is a guide I found helpful when doing the same thing http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/23 ... s-8-a.html

I ran DBAN on the SSDs and let Windows take care of the rest.

Looks like everything is happy now...other than a few non-Lenovo apps that aren't 8.1 compatible yet.
