T43p HD LED constantly on

Could anyone offer a cure?
I have a T43p that I've just put a Kingspec 32Gb SSD PATA drive into.
Drive works fine, but the HD LED is constantly on, even when the drive is idle.
It is not a case of background I/O's or anything like that. The light is just on all the time. Does not flicker or dim.

Sort of stumped.

Make sure indexing is turned off.

Kingspec is not known for reliability.
Put in another SSD and dsee how that goes.
