T60 starts from battery, but not from adaptor.

#1 Post by coolmsnman » Fri Sep 13, 2013 4:11 pm

Hy!

I have an interesting issue.
When i try to turn on my T60, the 2 LED (battery and AC) on the LED bar turn off, and nothing happens.
If i unplug the adaptor, and try to start the thinkpad, it will turn on. After it, i plug the adaptor and the power source changes to AC form Battery.

I have an other T60 (one is not enough ) and i changed the battery, the adaptor and the issue do not came out with the other thinkpad.

Has anybody have a same problem yet?
Any solution, idea, suggestion?

Thanks!

May the force or a T60 be with you!!!

I've owned a T42 that behaved in the exact same manner. Close examination of the motherboard pointed to moisture damage and the board was subsequently scrapped.

While I can't guarantee that you're looking at the exact same problem, there is a hardware failure on that T60 and I'd advise you to start looking for a replacement planar.

Good luck.

I just bought a used T61 and bought a new battery for it.
I plugged the battery in to prep for first use...
Once I plugged the power in, it didn't recognize the AC power.
I took the battery out and reseated it... that did the trick...

Maybe try reseating the battery?
