Help! Need a file from T41 restore CD (or drivers)

#1 Post by pmhutch » Tue Sep 24, 2013 6:49 am

Hi

I'd be really grateful if anyone could help me, please.

I need to re-install Windows and all drivers on my T41 (2373-7FM). I have the five Product Recovery CDs, but Disk #1 is damaged. A large (500 MB) file called CMAPBUS.IMD is damaged and can't be read - also can't be recovered using repair s/ware, and polishing the CD doesn't help. It's possible that other files on the Cd may be damaged also.

I've tried installing retail version of Windows followed by theThinkpad drivers from the Lenovo site, but this is a long and tedious process - and hasn't worked, as the LAN port driver didn't install properly. I would much rather restore from the IBM/Lenovo disk set.

This is quite urgent, so I don't have time to order a replacement set of disks (and in any case, they are quite expensive...).

So.. I'm wondering if anyone has the T41/R50/1829/1830/1831/182/1833/1836 restore CD, P/N 24R8117 and woul be prepared to ZIP the contente and send to me via a file transfer service? I would just need CD #1. I don't think there should be any issues with this as it is only part of the restore set and I have a legitimate Win XP license key.

If you can help with this, please use a program like Winzip to put all the folders and files into one file and then tarnsfer to me using the free service: http://www.dropsend.com This can handle files of up to 2GB in size.

Please send to the following email address: pmail7-1 @ yahoo.com (yes, that's 7 dash 1)

If you'd like to discuss, please send me a Skype intro message, user name: pmhutch I'll contact you when I get up on Wed morning, Melbourne/Sydney time.

An alternative to the restore disk would be a file containing all the drivers for this machine - I woudl then try again with the retail version of Windows. Would prefer the restore route, though.

Many thanks in advance
Paul
