I had never used one until one came on a used ThinkPad I got, now my life is changed...

Anywhere other than eBay? :)

I believe you're looking for "soft dome" caps. These are the ones with the tiny nubs embedded on top. The concave ones are called "soft rim".

The logical place (from the factory): http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/accessorie ... oint-caps/
Online obvious place: http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&keywor ... inter+caps
Or perhaps a member here in the Marketplace can hook you up....

Whoops, I meant concave~

I noticed they're pretty cheap on eBay, but I'll wait a day or two to see if anybody bought a 100-pack of these from China and can throw some in an envelope ;)

I typically use the original "cat's tongue" or soft dome caps. After years of usage the cat's tongue look and feel more like "shiny, slippery, bald head" caps. For the systems that arrived with the soft rim caps and I've been too lazy to change it out, I've noticed that many of them have left a circular mark on the LCD.

Looks like "soft dome" is the name of the ones I'm after! I found some cheap enough on eBay looking for the proper name. Might still get some factory ones though.

I've gotten a ten pack of soft dome when I first started to hoard Thinkpads, then on eBay I saw the other variations and bought it. I wished I had bought more then a three-pack and slapped em on the various TPs I was using. I did switch em out to see how they feel on my main (soft dome) x61t but within the hour I switched them back... I was too accustomed to the trackpoints I originally had them on, even if they had the same movement settings.

My only gripe with the cat tongue is that I get it dirty and my finger gets dry.
Trackpoints are the reason why I could use a laptop, I can't use touchpads.
